We tell stories to elementary school children in the Cherry Creek School District of Colorado. Cherry Creek School District spans the south and southeast suburbs of the City of Denver in Colorado. We serve schools in Centennial, Cherry Hills Village, Foxfield, Glendale, Greenwood Village, and portions of Denver, Littleton and Aurora.
Oral storytelling is a natural learning tradition that predates reading, writing and arithmetic. It builds connections in our lives between students, generations and cultures.
Our stories ignite the imagination of children in a way more dramatically than just reading a book. Tellers pass along character, build community, advance literacy and enrich the lives of the listeners and the storytellers alike.
The children are captivated by the stories we tell. They smile. They laugh. They are eager to have us return each month for another new story. We often hear their excited voices whispering in their classrooms, “The storytellers are here!”
